I'd pay close attention to the rain tomorrow and the cold front moving in Saturday night onto Sunday. It's goin to be a rough day. Could be snow and ice Sunday, which I don't mind. If you can get out Saturday that might be the day. Get some large shiners, jig heads, Binsky's and worms. Try jigging if you get out there. Try dead sticking the Shiners. Got a few shorts so far this year. December is a dominant month for river Walleye. We just need some regulation in temperature. Too much of a roller coaster this month. GOOD LUCK!!!

I'd probably would try greenwood or swartswood before the delaware.

Me and my cousin were debating about those two places, we never fished swartswood nor greenwood lake. Which ramp is good to use for greenwood lake or if we decide to go to swartswood?

Not sure about the ramps still open on GW I'm sure one of the other guys can clue you in as well as on swartswood. I personally wouldn't head out to the delaware at this time of year unless I was with an extremely delaware exprienced fisherman. I had my boat on it twice and things can get real squirrely real quick especially when it's this cold.
Running on a big river is a whole different ball game.
You should be able to catch crappies if the eyes aren't biting!
Look at the bright side only 4 or 5 months till start fishing for hybrids!!!!!!HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Delaware has the largest population of Walleye. Try the river as long as it doesn't flood. All you need is a couple worms, shiners and assorted jig heads. I caught walleye there my last 3 trips. They were short unfortunately. The big boys should definitely be in by now.

Please be careful on the river. It's your first time going there? By boat? A lot of spots to fish off land that produce Eyes.

mike the big D is low right now and honestly I wouldnt take either of my boats up there. Its a JETmotor river right now, u have to have experience to take on river currents and the right anchor, my advice is to not go, the weather isnt great this weekend either. As for SW the state park launch is gonna be closed so you will not be able to launch. I got stuck last year this time of the year after the first ice/snow and went up to find the gate locked, they do it every year. GW is your best bet, go to the north side of NY and launch from willow or defeos, u pay when u get out. Fish slow, like ice fishing tactics and same lures, or live bait to the bottom. Gonna be a tough weekend for fishing period, last week was perfect

Fished Swartie the other day, launch @ state park was still open . My buddy has a 19' bass boat, no trouble launching .
We did poorly on Walllryes only getting one 24" , however other fish cooperated well 7 bass couple of 4# plus in there sm & large , YP , many crappies all smaller & pickerel. Water temp 43 surface didn't get bottom temp but looked turned over
Good variety but never got on the Walleyes !

Rule number 1 for the Walleye fishermen.
Never fish for Walleye after a storm with clear skies and a Northwest wind. If you don't know this rule, sorry, your not a Walleye fishermen.

Well talked it over with my cousin and looks like we won't be going walleye fishing, instead we will be taking the boat out to round valley I guess for the first time and try for anything even lake trout. What you guys think about that decision?

Watch the wind at Round Valley. The lake can actually obtain a 3ft. chop on some windy days. You can draw a line from the North tower to the South tower and you don't even have to fish past there. Some big fish being taken off the shoreline lately, even the lake trout are in close.

Agreed.. However you can fish on those days IF you fish from before first light until perhaps 8 am this time of year.. Then from maybbe 4 PM until dark, or even into the night time hours if you have live bait..
Bluebird skies after a front are terrible for walleyes during daytime hours. They just won't hit.
Even the "good" low light hours aren't good after a front, but I catch some around the edges of darkness...bob
