Lard Almighty

Fished during the "warmest" part of the day at some local ponds in Ocean County. At my first stop, I was greeted by skim ice rimming the pond. Undeterred, I started chucking lures wherever the water was still liquid, and manged a small largemouth on a suspending jerkbait worked painfully slow. After that it was a quick car ride (with the heat blasting full) to my pickerel paradise pond, where even more surface area than the first pond was covered by ice. Still, I worked a slug-go in the open areas, and got vicious strikes from three pickerel, with two landed and one badass that bit through my braid.
All in all, not a bad day dodging icebergs. Video of the pickerel is below.
