Teamed up with Jeff (Bicey) today and decided to do a little trolling at the Valley. Not long after the spoons were in I had a nice 26" laker on a lime green 4 inch spoon and it was a slow steady pick from there. We ended up with five two were decent and the rest were stockie sized but all in all it was a nice afternoon not too cold and put a few fish in the boat with a NJF Buddy whom I haven't fished with in a while. Was nice to catch up and land a few fish as well.

Was planning to hit greenwood tomm. But heard a few terrible reports from there today so was thinking of dragging some spoons myself at rv tomm. How deep were you getting them? You should try verticle jigging them with spoons this time of year also. I use to hit rv a lot place has just never been the same since years ago.....

Good times Dale. It was fun to catch up with ya after not fishing together for awhile. It was weird fishing for something that doesn't have some kind of stripes on it.
Jrock......vertical jigging is the best way to absolutely slaughter lakers.....no doubt, but this was last minute and everything I needed to troll for them was already in the boat. Dale knows I jig them and even asked me if he should bring a jigging rod lol. We were targeting lakers and most of them were tight to bottom in 70 to 90 FOW.
Its a shame how downhill that lake has gone....but there's still fish to be caught.
Some of my best fishing memories come from RV.....monster lakers and browns were everywhere. My grandfather who fished there from the moment it opened, knows the lake better than anyone .....period. He even stopped fishing it....except for this time of the year. He still pays his dues to the RVTA even though he can no longer fish.

Here's a pic of one.

Yummy, poor mans lobster! Good catching guys. Haven't been out on the valley since the last time it had safe ice 4 seasons ago. Jigging lakers in 90 feet of water in front of north tower. 4 inches of ice. There's no stopping the hardcore anglers on this site. There's fish to catch 12 months out of the year in this great little state. YEA BUDDY! Good stuff!!!
