[B]After not fishing on Black Friday due to my wifes shopping sickness, I finally made it back to the Pequest after a 3 year remission. As soon as I get to the spot, I see a vehicle with an NJF.com sticker on it. Its BEARDO LARRY and he comes to find me and warns me that theres a Rabid Raccoon in the area. He's with a local in a Tahoe and they unlock the doors and tell me to jump in. The crazy Raccoon chased Larry and his girlfriend down the path, GOOD TIMES! We called Animal Control and I'm not too sure if they ever showed up. Good to see you Larry.

Back to fishing! Hit my usual spots and came up with 7 Rainbows, all stockies 14-16 inches. It was good catching for the first half of the day. Kept 4 for the table and let the rest live.

Switched spots and switched over to fishing for Big Browns for the rest of the afternoon. Lures, spinners did some damage to the Browns today. I'm casting a purple/ silver Pins Minnow and a fish takes a swipe at it on consecutive casts. GRRRRRR, I say to myself because I know its a big Brown because of the area I'm fishing. So I keep switching up lures and switch to worms and than to lures again to try to get this BEAST to come back. She's not responding to anything. Finally pick up the smallest lure in my box, Rainbow Trout pattern P.M. 1st cast, there she is and she is a FATTY. Get the BIG FAT GIRL LANDED and she was definitely worth the effort. This holdover breeder taped out at 26 inches with a full belly. Took a few pics and off she went. WHOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Managed a few more smaller Browns after the catch of the day and called it quits. Nobody on the river and tons of fish to be caught. Drove by the fly zone and the lot was pretty empty. NJ ANGLERS, Where you at??? Tally for the 4 hours of fishing, 7 Bows, 4 Browns. 11 Trout on this beautiful BLACK FRIDAY!

TIGHT LINEZ!!!:D

This guy will catch fish in a puddle. NJ's most well rounded angler except for Greenwood! Good freakin' fish buddy! Come kayak Swartz with me and Barry in the AM!

Nice brown! Shame she may no longer be alive after those gill grabs, just like was being discussed in another recent thread.

I have fished with FE quite a bit over the past few years and if there is anyone who knows how to handle fish it is Eddie. I think the pic doesn't do it justice.

Sweet fish Eddie. That's the same spot my buddy got his 8.3 brown last Nov... and on the SAME EXACT LURE!!! I got my 7+ brown down stream on the SAME LURE too. They're candy to those big browns. Did she fight well? The bigguns last fall went bananas when hooked...

Thanx for looking guys. The fish murdered the lure. Nothing too dramatic when it came down to the battle. 3 good runs up and down river, after that she came in easy. She was fat, maybe the fattest Brown I've ever seen in NJ. Sorry if the pic doesn't do the fish justice. Measured 26 inches. Weight is just an estimate. 7 lbs possibly more, this was no baseball bat!

I'm not much of a drinker and am quite relaxed but thanks for the offer. Just saying, all fish and trout in particular should never be handled by their gills if you intend to release them. Kinda like somebody shoving a hand into your lungs, not neccesarily the best practice.

Andy, I have no doubt Eddie is a good guy and clearly a skilled angler, the pics alone speak for that. That being said I don't think he needs you to jump to his defense, I'm certain he is quite capable fo defending himself if he felt he was being set upon, which was not my intent. The pics speak clearly enough for themselves, 2 shots with fingers obviously in the gills. No biggie, it's just a stockie, there'll be more.

Hey Eddie did you have an opportunity to tangle with the big 'bow that had been living in that pool earlier this year? She was easy 27-28 inches, finally removed by a couple of russian gents from PA after many repeated attempts to catch her. She usually hung out just under the tail of the current tongue on the far side of the stream.

I've never seen the big bow that used to live there but know a few choice anglers that have hooked and landed her. Never run I to anybody when I fish down that way. It's a shame a fish like that was taken out and probably turned into fish cakes. I usually get a ton of Browns in that area.

Yeah, definitely a shame she was kept. She was a very silvery hen, nice markings and clearly a long-term holdover. A friend of mine who lives in the area had her on numerous times on the fly but was never quite able to bring her to hand, although once he did have her close enough to be reaching for his hemostats for the release when she came unbuttoned.

As you say there seem to always be some nice browns in that area, and it gets surprisingly little pressure.
