Had the pleasure of fishing with my buddies FastEddie, ScowardNJ and PredatorTom this morning on the other big lake. Met up with Eddie and Scott at 7am and tossed the kayaks in. 4-7mph forecasted winds were easily double that to start the day, ripping up the lake pretty hard. Started jigging and picked up a nice Crappie on my first drop. Few minutes later, a fat 24.5" Walleye. A few more Crappie for me and a nice slab for Scott before meeting up with Tom, who was wacking them from his boat. Got a free tow to a different spot and found some White Perch, Eddie picking up a few nice ones. Fought the increasing wind while Tom picked up a fat 25" Walleye. Whitecaps started making things very hairy for us in the yaks, so we made our way back at 11:30am. Rough conditions from beginning to end, but a fun day on the water.

Skunk and the guys.....great catching as usual, but I would really love to see some dry gear and dry tops/pants or a full dry suit on the bigger water. It's no joke, believe me. Those smaller sit-in kayaks are great in the Passaic and small water, but with the air and water temps this time of the year, you guys are pushing the limit with those set ups. I am not sure if I see any PFD's either. UGH !!
I don't want to sound like a preacher, but if that sit-in goes over with the clothes you are wearing in a lake that size.....I don't even want to think about it.
I love reading all the posts from all of you and seeing the pictures, and I really want to continue reading them.
Great catching !!!!!

I just found out today that my sit in Yak is definitely not made for the conditions we had today. Rough, rough and rough. As soon as my Yak took on water I was out of there. The last time I got as wet as I was today was when I went swimming this past summer, LOL!!! Whitecaps, wind sustained at 15-20 gusting to 30-35 by the time we left is no joke.
Still a good time with some fish caught. In total with all that went on I think we only fished for maybe an 1 1/2 total, AHHHHH, nothing you can do to control MOTHER NATURE!!! It was an adventure and hopefully next time we'll have much calmer conditions. Great time today fellas!!!
Nice WALLEYE catches by Skunk and Tom!!!:D
P.S. Guys, maybe we should jump on my boat next time.

Great stuff in the victory at sea conditions. I think the saying is you have a 50/50 chance of swimming 50 yards in 50 degree water, heard that some where. Nonetheless, WALLEYE chop !

Thanks for the concern Dan. We all had pfd's that went on shortly after those pictures. Too big of water to not be wearing!

Guys, while I commend you for going out on Greenwood to fish in your kayaks, I got a chill reading Dan's post.......First off way to be troopers and get out there and some fish to show is excellent.......BUT, it was rough from shore where I was yesterday, I can only imaging how windy it was in that place being tossed around ....All I am saying is please be careful......One bad move or heavy gust from Mother Nature, and it's over.........On a positive close, you got some nice fish to show...that's awesome!!!!....Be safe guys!!!.....in my many years fishing , I've seen a few people drown right in front of my eyes trout fishing the Ramapo near Pleasureland and Potash Lake also when their waders fill up and there is nothing anyone can do about it......and that's a small place.....Just be careful.....

Hey...I met Tom at Dow's a few weeks ago!
Small world, and big fish.
That wind was crazy, kept in me doing the honey-do list.

good job fells, way to get on some fish in the rough stuff. It was crankin nasty after the sun was high in the morning. I was in the suds down the shore cause I didnt get the memo for greenwood lol. def should wear a pfd when the water gets into the 50s, I got a auto-manual for xmas and Im actually wearing it, and I wont wear a seatbelt so go figure.

Saturday morning was comedy of errors. Cops, light wind, walleye, circa 08' ugly stick, busted paddle, slab, moderate wind, extension cord anchor, tow rope, a sunny, snotty wind, Jamo, white caps, yak to the dome, shine, murica!..........when are we doing it again???? :D :p

Me and Tom were back at it yesterday. Conditions were a little less brutal and we found some more Walleye, Crappie and White Perch. Had the pleasure of meeting "Fishon1982" out there, who was doing very well himself.

Nice! I'm yet to catch a walleye--never really targeted them. Looks like a pretty bad ass fish.

Cops!!!! Lol, Been there....... First time I launched a particular river spot with a park, upon return, they were everywhere!!! Launch, street, even a couple parked on the grass of the park. Couple things may have gone overboard, lol. :D
As soon as they saw us jump out of the boat with fishing gear, they all left without a single question. Funny stuff.........
Anyway, nice looking fish!!! Def sounds like an adventure........
