Once again I will be heading out this fall to fish Penns Creek in PA. Wilson and I have reserved a cabin at a camp ground near Penns Creek. I won’t go out there in the spring because I really don’t fly fish and Penns is known for it’s world famous Green Drake hatches. I won’t go in the Summer because Poe Paddy may get a bit busy that time of year. I have to watch my planning in the fall as I have to schedule around Penn State home football games, so we decided on November 8,9,10.
It’s a 4 hour drive. Yes striped bass will be stacked up like cord wood on the beach and New Jersey fishing will be great but I can’t help but do at least one trip a year, and I found this time to be the best since fishing pressure is low, EVERYONE in PA. will be hunting.
The trip is TOTALLY dependent on stream flows, over 2.5 you can forget about it. I know the area well enough now so I know where to zig and zag as I make my way down the 8 mile stretch of river.
The area can be broken down in 3 separate parts, the upper, main and lower. On Saturday I like to do the 8 mile stretch, plenty of water. On Sunday I like to do the 2 mile lower no-kill stretch. You can fish where ever you want. If you fly fish that is fine also but I will be running and gunning the river.
Saturday night I like to eat at the club I belong to out there, 20 bux a year dues, can’t beat that.

This year we may pack most of our food since the restaurant we usually dine at burnt down.
If you get out there Friday night, not too late, there is a nice brew pub not far from the campgrounds.

PM or post if interested, (best to wear blaze orange as we will be fishing PA. State game lands)
