Is there nothing that the effing government can't do right or at all??????

Due to the US government shutdown and resulting closure of federal lands, the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is adjusting the Thursday, October 3, stocking of the Flat Brook in Sussex County. However, except for the Federally owned portions, such as the Blewitt Tract, the Flat Brook will be stocked from Crigger Road downstream to Roy Bridge. The Walpack Valley Campground and the Walpack Wildlife Management Area (Haney's Mill) will also be stocked.

I know this has already shut down Sany Hook for the salt guys....with fall stripers and blues fish just picking up too. Sucks but I guess it really is the "non-essential" part of the government. Although I'd love to reivew some of those things they classify as essential...I'm sure that would be interesting.

just to be clear, this only impacts federal properties: national parks like Gateway (sandy hook) and the DWG, national wildlife refuges, etc.

state, county, and town properties should all be open for your use, so fish away!

If you hear anything that says state park in it... it's open.... so it will get stocked

The lower stretch of the flatbrook is attached to the Delaware Recreation Area which is federal property. (Blewett Tract ( in the back did not get stocked) & Flatbrookville did not get stocked) / Fly stretch did in most spots)

Just got done stocking the lower flatbrook - All rainbows. (Two trucks and a transfer) - Sad - water is so low..

Stocked the lower stretch of the paulinskill yesterday which got rainbows and brookies.

The Rockaway was also stocked today (they got a mixed bag)

11 nets of trout went in at the bridge where the fly zone starts. Wich way will they go? I have a report from a friend that anglers are snagging the Trout out of the North Branch at Milltown rd, or Milstone rd. Don't remember the name of that rd. But yep, guys are snagging the Trout in the low water. JERKS!!!

My father went to Sandy Hook yesterday and brought along his close friend who has Navy Defense i.d., they tried sweet talking their way to the point but it was a no-go, Navy i.d. or not. Likely the only way out there is if you have a official Coast Guard i.d., and even then who knows.
