Got out this afternoon for about an hour and a half. Had one Largemouth 17 inches, a 14 inch smallie, and a 19 inch pike. Not the monsters I was hoping for, but at least the rod was bent. The pike and smallie took a heddon magnum torpedo, and the lmb a spinnerbait.

Nice fish TJC. lots off bass in that river.
I fished the PomptonR on sunday
I took a Kayak trip down the river starting behing 23 by fudruckers, then ending at the boat ramp by the grasshopper2.
I was gona do a report but ill just expand upon yours.
Got 4 LM and 1 smallie .all on spinner. No pike  water was very clear so fish spooked easily.
I almost got hit in the face by a Dancing Carp on the surface!! i saw more that 150 carp that day
the river was beautiful on sunday- really nice lookin weeds and structure
You see some very interesting people on that river lol.

I love Pompton River. Typical mixed bag. All my Pike from there have been 14"-26", no real beasts yet. Nice work.

I did the basically the same stretch a few weekends ago, launching from Riverside Park, down passed Aqueduct Park, and finishing up at the parking lot at Two Bridges Rd. I couldn't believe how clear the water was up at the beginning, you could see every weed patch and every fish.

Awesome fish!
I've only fished the Pompton River a couple of times, but have found good-sized bass every time. I guess it's one of New Jersey's more under-rated fisheries.
One of the things I hate about urban fishing is the houses built right on the river. It's kind of creppy paddling through somebody's backyard. Some people live ON the river, with only a few pieces of concrete holding up their backyard. What kind of insurance company covers that??

Nice lookin fish all around!! I've yet to fish the pompton myself except a couple shore spots. Def on the to do list.
I wonder how many, if any, of those bass are packanack lake transplants???

the water is unbelievably clear on that part of the river. great weed beds that have so much life in them. your right about seeing every fish- but then again, they also see you lol.
my favorite stretch in right by riverside park .
I usually start all the way up by pompton plains xroad behind the now vacant A&P, and take it to the ramp by 2 bridges. there are some deep holes starting there to riverside park, you should try fishing them. big bass in there, my bro got a 5 pounder around there. Very cool river to yak down
