Today we went to the mud buoy for a day of blue fishing. I gotta say, as far as we could tell we did better then most of the other boats there. At one point I counted 34 boats with in a 1/4 mile radius. We had fish from about 5 lbs up to about 15. And we caught a BUNCH!!
What bothers me most, and the reason I'm posting this is because we could not get over the ignorance we witnessed! Guys running through our chum slick, not at idle but RUNNING! And not just the private boats but the party boats as well.
At one point a private boat must have really upset a charter boat as they got VERY close to each other and the charter captain had "a few choice words" for the private boat, which was anchored.
As the day wore on a party boat had balls enough to drop the hook in our slick! They then stole " stole our fish" . Yes I know they are trying to make a living but setting up less then 150 yards away!
The most confusing thing is, all of this over BLUEFISH! Bass maybe. I guess courtesy, common sense & respect are a thing of the past.

That was quite a fleet, all on top of each other out there. we were fluking inshore of you and commented on how it looked like a zoo.

And plenty of room out there to fish!! I fluke fished about 1/4 mile away from the fleet and had schools of blues pass by screen all day!

Yes you guys were getting mugged from every angle and direction. That's because you were putting a hurting on the blues and those other guys were not. We were drifting threw the area as well and surprised by the Party boat move to anchor on top of you. Take pride in knowing you outfished them all.

So I see that I'm not the only one to see how poor on etiquette the "sporting " community is/has become. Sad to say at the least. Nice to know there are people out there yet that feel the same as I do. Thank you!
It was a little unnerving to see that party boat (with the black hull) run through all those boats only to turn around to go back where they came from. That's when they dropped their hook and mugged us! Thanks a bunch captain!

So did the fly rods produce anything yesterday?

Yes at time it was great fishing. The big blues are awesome on the flyrod. Tough battle but worth it.
