Hit the river from 630-930 this am hoping some fish were holding in the high water. Casted the X-rap for a while and hooked a nice Walleye probably close to 5lbs, healthy fish, not too fat, not too skinny. He was somewhere around 23-24 inches. Kept casting and hooked up again with Striper around 12 inches, feisty little guy! Kept casting and casting and hooked another Walleye around 9 am, this fish was bigger than the first. Absolutely crushed the X-rap! Im walking the fish down the wall to the rocks where it would be easy to land, ahhhhh this fish is barely hooked and pops off as soon as I get a hand on him. DAMN, the fish was close to 7 lbs and probably 26 inches or so. Oh well, quick release is a good thing but I really wanted a picture of this fish. At least I got to touch this beautiful RARITAN RIVER WALLEYE!!! TIGHT LINEZ!!!!:D

Nice Catch! We fished in an area within 1 mile of where you're at Saturday night and caught one at 30 inches. Beast! New Brunswick must be holding those Stripers until it floods then they run up to feed there.

Passaic and Raritan are 2 good rivers that can hold some eyes. It would be nice if the state could stick a little in both rivers. Some really nice holes in the upper Passaic! Two brides and that Elmwood Park stretch look like ideal WALLEYE WATER in my opinion. Dark deep water with plenty of shade!!!

Way to go FE...That's pretty awesome. I never think that high water is going to be productive....guess I gotta change my attitude.

Nicely Done.

Thanx for looking guys!!! River fish always swim up or hold on the edges when the water is up. They may be chasing bait or just looking to get out of the current. I usually catch my Walleye out of the D this time of year but my favorite ramp is still under construction. SUCKS, I've had double digit days going for Eyes on the D in years passed. I could go to my other spots but I'm still waiting for my boat registration to come in the mail. AHHHHH, I gotta get my fix somehow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Nice Fish!!! Where do you park at that location??

You can park at the lock just upstream from the falls and walk down. Or you can park across the street from the foot bridge and walk upstream. The pull off on Weston Canal rd is big enough for 3 or 4 cars. Parking spot by the lock is big enough for 6-7 cars. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Compliments, those are beautiful fish! I hit that spot a few weeks ago with my 13 year old son who wants to catch more variety of fish besides LMB and trout, looking at the pic it's no wonder why we didn't catch anything and each donated a lure to the river, it was too low when we went. Looking forward to finding some other honey holes on the mighty Raritan

The time to fish it is after it rains and the water levels rise. Usually pretty good for a few days afterwards till the water drops to normal levels again.
