Started out fluking in the dark at the dock, had a 15"er and a few swings and misses. Went out with a slightly light crowd. Tried inshore for triggers first. It was no good, I had my smallest trigger ever around 10", a big trigger came up that won the pool, then a blowfish and throwback sea bass, a few of which were 13"-14". A move to ling land was rather snotty. We had a slow pick out here of mixed sized ling. I wound up with the small trigger and 22 ling to around 2 3/4lbs. Pool winner had 16 ling along with his 3lb triggerfish.

Dock fluking when we got back was extremely productive. My first snapper was crushed by a 2lb bluefish that shook off at the boat. Next one I lost a nice fluke at the side of the dock. Third snapper was a 21" fluke. Fourth was a swing and a miss. Fifth snapper caught a 23" fluke. Last two snappers caught 17" fluke. If only the snappers were biting as well as the fluke.

Nice report, sound like the dock fishing was good when you got back.
Last Friday it was slow for fluke even using the snappers.

Fluking in the dark is very hard. Even when you get a bite it seems more like they want to kill the snapper than eat it.

Sinker on the bottom, 2/0 hook one foot up on a short leader or dropper loops. Want that thing planted on the bottom struggling right above their heads. If the snapper can swim too much, they usually don't bother chasing it. But the snapper must be lively, if it is out there 3 mins, change it. As for sliding weights, not necessary, the larger fish do everything they can to rip the rod out of the holder.
