Got out tonight for about an hour and a half before it got dark. Threw a bunch of different lures on my tray but only needed one. Threw a Spook into a nice slack pool below a small weedbed and was rewarded with a few classic topwater assaults. First cast into the pool ended with a probably 3.5lb Smallie spitting the hook boatside. That ones going to haunt me for a bit! In the next 20 mins, I picked up two vicious Pike and a small Largemouth. Sun went down and i packed it in for the night. First teeth in the new kayak haha.

You kept that fish? There is no way it will survive.

Better to release it and hope it lives rather than bring it home and eat it....... Then there'll be 2 fatalities, lol........

Nice Fish!!!!!

Fish caught a treble hook to the head, not a circle hook to the gut. He had plenty of life left in him, I have no doubt it survived. I have caught these things with spinners in their gills, shitty mono hanging out of their mouth, broken jaws and even one with no upper jaw. They are resilient.

Nice pike! I'm sure the fish was fine. I've caught a buch with old war wounds too including severed gills hanging out of the gill plate.

Haha you're telling me. 1/8th mile paddle in no current as opposed to 60 mile paddle in death current lol.

Very fun. The yak lets me sneak up on these things. I have a spot that I hit this week where I spotted and cruised over probably 30 Pike without them even knowing. Of course they didn't want jacksh*t to do with my lures, but was cool nonetheless haha.

Awesome. I'll have to try it. Got some new spooks on the way, maybe I'll have to borrow a friends kayak and give them a try!

That new yak needed a little blood on the deck! I gotta tie on some bigger lures...The stuff I've been washing is half the size of that bomb you are throwing...Nice!
