We planned to walk to dog along the river starting near Rutgers heading north. Wading the river we saw lots of bait fish, one live crab that was sent on his way, and caught a few crayfish. Found on LMB @ ~ 1.5 inch floating on the surface. Waded about 3/4 to 1 mile and then turned around. Tide started coming in:eek: Ankle deep water turned to knee deep water and slipping and sliding on the flat rocks did not help. We exited the river 1/2 mile in search of an alternative way out and ran into a road block of heavy forest and downed trees. We re-entered the river wading up to past our knees and finally made it back. The only ones smiling at the end was my self and the dog who didn't complain about swimming at all. While we knew it was tidal, we did not expect the tidal effects of the Raritan to sink our progress so quickly. Anyone want to go wading in the RIVER? Adventure we had!

When I float in my canoe I have to take out at the 2nd 287 crossing. If I get caught up on the out going tide I'll be whizzing by the Parkway in no time !! :)

eh, just bring a fluke rod w/ you and get a tow from one of the law-abiding, courteous, and helpful boaters out on raritan bay :p
