Had a rather comical and surreal fishing outing the other eve that seemed worth sharing...

Desperately wanted to squeeze in a little fishing but was too busy running errands to get to a body of water much before dark. Decided to hit a little community lake anyway and chuck around some chicken livers to see if there any catfish to be found. I'd never seen any cats in this particular lake before but after reading a posting about cats biting at night, I figured, what the hell?

Got to the lake at 8:45 and discovered that a community theater group was putting on a performance of the musical "Into the Woods" only about 100 feet away from my usual fishing spot there.

Couldn't see my float at all but figured, oh well, I'll fish by feel and hear some free music at least. Next thing you know, BAM! a big fish devours the bait and drags me all over the pond. Had to use the flashlight on my iPhone to even see enough to get him out of the water. 20" channel catfish. Let him off, rebaited, and cast again... BAM! same thing. Ended up catching six catfish between 9 and 10 pm. Five of them were 20-22". They looked so similar, for a minute I thought I was catching the same fish. Not so...

Apparently, this night fishing for catfish thing works pretty well...

Reminds me of dancing in my boat fishing for stripers just off the Tiki Bar in Point. Cool report.
