Jigman13 & I hit MCR on July 4th. Got there early, it was overcast with a nice breeze, fish were popping all over. We each wound up with a small lmb on artificials and a brown trout on herring, nothing spectacular compared to this gigantic something-or-other that swirled about 10' away from the boat, chasing bait. Saw several deer, a bald eagle, a loon and watched an osprey snag a trout in open water. Fishing got slow when the sun came out, no big bass to be seen anywhere. Jeremy got bit off by a pickerel next to the boat launch to end the day.

No, we did not each take a pic with the same fish.

Sounds like a good day out on the water.

That reservoir has been on my 'to-do' list for a long time. One of these days, I'll have a large enough block of free time to get out there with my kayak and explore that reservoir. One of these days...

There were a ton of 'yaks & canoes out, its a beautiful place to be on the water. When we started our first drift, there was a loon not too far away and it made its distinctive call. I hadn't heard that sound in years, it instantly got me in the zone for an enjoyable experience. Saw a pair of swans later on in the day, they almost looked out of place.

There are far more cormorants on that lake than loons, and although they are a gluttonous nuisance, there was one point in the middle of the lake where about a dozen of them came popping to the surface one after the next... they must have been sampling the buffet.

It didn't seem as big as I remembered from my one prior visit 17 or so years ago, and as long as you have 2 healthy batteries and exercise good judgement about when to head in it is doable, but a 9.9 limit would be awesome.
