Went to a small local pond with a handful of killies. Had a real good bite while it was raining that stopped once the sun came out. Wound up with 10 bass, mostly 11"ers with one 3lb kicker and 2 crappie. Water is really starting to weed up and the fish are lying low when the sun is out.

Yup still in Monmouth. Fishing one of the very first ponds I ever bass fished after a 20 year hiatus there. As for killies, they got the fish out of the grass. Lures were producing one fish days, but the killies got them fired up.

I didn't know killies would survive in freshwater, that's very interesting.

killies would swim up your pipes and live in your bathtub if they could.

one of the toughest fish on the planet.

100+F days in a small pond? no problem
subfreezing temperatures stuck in a plastic drain tube over winter? no problem

direct saltwater to freshwater? no problem

back again? no problem

Plus you can cast and retrieve them at least 10 times before they die on you. They are an important baitfish in a lot of coastal freshwater areas.
