I burned up some gas checking out a few spots, seeing if I want to invite my brother down for some fishing. First spot I checked was Spring Lake. Water was high, but still clear. Found a few bass holding tight to flooded brush along shore. And I mean TIGHT; if the lure was more than a foot away, no love. I bagged two small bass on a weedless frog. Saw bass and catfish fry everywhere; the future looks bright! A few decent carp cruising the shallows as well.
I stopped by some ponds in Farmingdale I like to hit, but the water was extremely muddy; visibility less than 6 inches. On the way back home I checked on Manasquan Reservoir. It was at full pool, and the water was clear as usual. LOTS of people crammed onto the fishing docks, I didn't even bother trying. All manner of googans represented, including one guy fishing a piece of corn below a huge popping cork, and another guy chucking his fist-sized bobber out with an ice fishing pole! I watched the circus for a few minutes and then headed home.
