I was looking for a few ideas on what kind of rod to get for my TLD 30??? I plan on using it for shark and tuna.

I have custom rods starting at $250 that will work great for your purpose. Give me a call and we can discuss options and what will suit you best.

You have a few options for that reel. We build rods as well, but I am not looking to step on any toes.

You can get yourself into a "newer rod", such as the JCT Rod we build, that offers an action similar to the new vertical jigging rods, while offering a longer length at 5'11". This rod is a combo rod, as it works as a jigging rod for heavier jigs, a trolling rod and a chunking rod. The action and build allow it to be a multi purpose rod.

You also have the option of a traditional stand up rod, with a faster action too. There are a few ways you can go here. Our pricing will start at $195 and can up to $300, depending on what you want.

No matter who you choose, go with a custom made rod. You will benefit from it, compared to a manufactured rod. Its more than just looks too. The rod will last longer, work better, feel more comfortable.

Few pics of the rods mentioned, colors can be picked to do just about any color scheme you want.

Here is more info on that JCT Combo Rod. Its shown with a different reel, but we build them for all types of reels, so your spacing may be a lil different.

It has the nylon slick butt, easy in & out of the rod holder. Aluminum seat & gimbal. 9-10 plus guides, to keep the action similar to a vertical jigging rod, while having the same action & power.

Its in a sense, a jigging rod made to do all 3. The pics will help describe it better, this one is part of a set that is going to get dropped off at Clarks Landing later today. Your reel would be a good fit.

The extra guides, add to the power, comfort and control.

Light guides, no need to always go with heavy guides, when you have a strong enough guide that works just as well.

Again, its just a suggestion. We hear about all of the positive things with the new vertical jigging rods.... well, we have worked on a rod that applies that same action & power to a multi purpose rod.

Its been our best selling rod this year. Took 3+ years to design, but well worth the wait.

It looks like a light rod. I was looking for more power behind it. Plus I already have a jigging rod. I want to use this one more for chunking.

This rod is rated for 50-100# and only looks light and feels light to hold. Its actually more powerful than most of the manufactured chunking rods made. We worked for a few years to get this one right. Have had 275# tuna landed in Mexico on test rods.

Just because a rod has heavy guides, or is larger, does not mean its stronger. A good builder will get you into something similar. Jigging is the least of this one. Its more for trolling and chunking. The jig range is 6-15ozs. Stop by to look at one and then compare it to other rods in its class. Its free to look and compare. To be honest, your better off shopping around anyway. Kevin Bogan builds his own style, you may find his rod is the one for you. Or another biilder may have what you want...... but last thing you want to do is buy a rod for yourself, based on another mans preferance.
Good luck with whatever you decide on.
