Has anyone been there in a while? For a small place I think it gets quite a bit of pressure and was wondering if there's been much luck there in the recent days/weeks. It's just up the road from me and is much more manageable as an after work spot than some of the other places I like to go.
Thanks! And feel free to PM me instead of posting if you'd like to not burn a spot.
Cheers,
Dave

i was up there last year one time on a nice day in august and there were a ton of people swimming, people tailgating from their vehicles while blocking the boat ramp and the road down to the launch was like driving across the surface of the moon.
sorry, don't have a more recent report but hopefully it's totally different this year anyway

I am not a fan of that place. They stock trout there in November as part of the "winter" trout stock. I tried for trout in Dec and saw many nice rainbows jumping but they wouldn't bite anything.
Aside from that, my brother fished it 3 days ago and got the skunk. Ive only caught a couple pickerel and bass in there, more pickerel. not many tho.
And the road going down sucks.

Yeah, the road isn't fun. Fortunately, that's where the FJ kicks in and I let it do the dirty work ;)
Thanks for confirming that it's not just my lousy fishing skills that make my experiences here pretty rough.

I've been there a few times this year and it is a challenging place to fish. I was able to manage a couple bass each trip but really had to work for them. The access road is pretty rough but to my surprise it does not deter the crowds from venturing down to swim, shore fish, kayak etc. For a small lake it gets a ton of traffic.
Last two trips, I spoke with 4 other boats on the water and I was the only one landing anything. If you unlock the secret to this lake let me know!

Fished there a couple of weeks ago. Had one small bass on a senko that wasn't worth writing home about. Nice play to kayak but its true about people hanging out and blocking the ramp. At least they were courteous when I was there and offered to move their cars so I could get my truck down to the launch to load up. Road leading down to pond is a train wreck! Huge potholes that could swallow a small car.

Is this the same lake near Greenwood Lake? Is there any panfish in there?

Since Hummer is no longer around, my guess is a Grand Cherokee SRT8.

If he can walk on water, I'm sure he can drive over potholes.

My baby will never make it down that road. forget the 2013 model, too high tech and NO center exhaust on the back, and 500lbs heavier.
Kennybell supercharger is next..

It's too bad about that place. When you are down at the launch,
it looks so inviting and gives the vibe that it's loaded with fish. One tour
of the shoreline chucking everything in the box for scant dink reward
changes that outlook.
I"ve nicknamed Green Turtle Pond "Baby Monksville" for its deceiving
appearances and close proximity to its namesake. Well, at least there ARE huge gamefish in Monks, just not terribly cooperative ones! ;)

HAHA!! That's the exact same thing I say every time I go down that road (if you want to call it that). It's usually followed by stuff like "Houston, we have a problem." , "The Eagle has landed." , and "One small step for man, one giant leap for Fishermankind." LOL. :D :D :D

Come on now, the surface of the moon isn't that bad!!:D

LOL Baby Monksville!!! If there was any chance at anyone who read that catching a big fish out of either lake, you just jinxed it :p .

Trout is pretty easy when they stock and occasionally you can get a hold over into the winter months and summer months(very rare in the summer). The road does suck but getting somewhere easy is never fun. That being said, I hate fishing bottom but 45 degree angles from the boat launch about 30 yards out you can drop some bottom and let the kids whack a few. Catfish can get exceptionally big for a small pond. I get one here and there going 7-8 lbs, but my son landed an 11 pounder this fall. Cats are mostly channel cats. Bass and pickerel do well since it's a shallow warmer lake but it does have a few cold water springs. I previously stated where 2 of them are. There are 3 others and the only thing I'll say on them is that you really have to get in a canoe or boat and "fall" in and feel the water about 4 feet down. If it's ice cold in the summer, you found one.
