Quick question... I'm going to be out near Merrill Creek a reservoir this afternoon. Was wondering if there is anywhere to fish from shore or whether that's really a boat-required kinda spot. If so, anyone have any suggestions for other bodies of water anywhere else in the vicinity to throw in a line for an hour or two?

Lots of shore fishing there. Last time I was there 2 weeks ago the water level was a little low making the shore line bigger.

Def ample amounts of shoreline. Fish by the boat launch. Everyone dumps their leftover livies there and fish tend to congregate in the weeds in that cove.
Or take a bit of a walk around the rocky areas for smallies. There's giants in there.

A boat gives you an advantage in any big lake, but Merrill Creek has good access. It gets deep quickly around the pumping tower, so you might have a shot at a decent trout.

First point to the right of the boat ramp. Its only about a 100-150yd walk right before the timbers start. Had a lot of good luck there last time. Hope you catch some! Small herring 5 ft under a bobber chuck it as far as you can :) Good luck!

I like bank fishing by the tower, you can cast into 60ft. of water there.

Umm, there is no fishing allowed on the preserve. That whole right side of the boat ramp is off limits to shore fisherman...NO FISHING

You are correct. The left side is open to fishing only.
Still this is a long shoreline to fish from.
I have only fished from a boat and the tower platform about 6 or 7 times, so I'm no ''regular''.
That said, I'd fish anywhere from shore until asked to leave.;)
