BIG GATOR TODAY (New PB)!!!

Took a couple vacation days off from work, and, since I didn't have anything on the to do list, I hit the river around 8am. Spent a little while cruisin around lookin for fishy spots. Once we got started it wasnt long before we found some fish.

First hour or two was a steady pick of low to mid 20s pike, 5 in all. The first one I caught dodged my attemp to grab him and jumped into the boat!!! My brother had one follow his lure up to the boat and turn away, only to come back and hammer it the next cast, lol.

After that things slowed for a while. Then, as I'm reeling in about to recast, I see a giant head come up and chomp my lure 2ft from the boat. I set the hook and immediately loosened my drag. Good thing to cause he took off like a rocket. After an awesome fight I get him to the boat and reach for him thinkin he's done. Just then he takes another short run and goes completely airborne!!!! Finally got him in, quick CPR, and back he went to grow even bigger.

That was it for the day. Packed in around 1. Can't beat some great action on an even nicer day.............

Nice job, It's amazing how the passaic river has come back. I went to memorial jr high in fair lawn and some days you couldn't stand the smell and you never knew what color it would be from thr dye factories in paterson.

CONGRATS on the PB !!! Looks just like the Millstone that is also stocked with Pike. If I get the time I want to put the Millstone back on the map as a pike hot spot. Rumor has it 2 dams on the Millstone may come down this summer making it that much easier to float, I will try to find out more at tonights meeting.

Not sure, no weight no measure. Just one of those times when I wanted to get a quick pic and get that beauty back asap. Don't think it quite reached 40", but def high 30s and thick.

Bad thing is, after the week I've had with 2 pb's, I'm 99% sure I'm going to get skunked at the m&g lol. Either way, it should be a good time. Oh, yeah, that reminds me, I need to go buy some lottery tickets before this luck runs out lol...............
