I should be doing about 4 hours of hw right now but this report is too good to keep to myself. Left the dock at 3:10 with our 4 man crew of, the lip, i, Uncle frank, and my cuz frank. By 5 o'clock, we had our 4 man limit plus 2 bonus tags that my dad and i got last night. 10 keeper bass in under 2 hours... can it get any better. Lost 3 fish at the boat and a lot of shorts. Not nearly as many on this incoming though. Mostly all big fish. A school of bigger fish decided to show up. Big fish of the day was a nice 18 pounder. Few other 37 inchers also. What a day... Had the whole bay to ourselves which was a beautiful thing. Tossed the first rod in, tossed in the second, first rod goes off, toss the third rod in, second whet off. Thats how we STARTED the day... and i didn't even get to chum yet ?! ANOTHER great day on the water with a great crew. See you guys tomorrow BOOOM
tight lines, JOHNNY BUCKTAILS

Was thinking along the same lines both with congratulations and about how many bass do you need to keep so early in the season.

agreed here too! been watching this site blow up with caught and KEPT bass this month and it bothers me to see the same people reporting so often about kept catches. gotta play the conservationist sometimes especially with the big cows who are the breeders :(

Ha - Dont listen to them Johnny - Its lonely at the top.
Stripers come and go and it has nothing to do with the recreational catch.
You catch and keep all the legal fish you can. Its hard to get real food anymore and I am sure you are putting them to good use.
And when the fluke come, fry them up too.

Don't listen yo them Johnny. These are probably same guys that kill big fluke in the name of tournament cash. Do what you have been doing and enjoy the catch and the food. Way to catch them up.

Dont see the issue here.. He kept in his limit and it all went to the dinner table.. Cant single anyone out here bc everyone is catching and most are keeping..

There is nothing like the look of someone who loves what he does, whether it is a job or a sport, but to say that stripers come and go has nothing to do with using common sense and is NOT good advise. Enjoy yourself and have fun, but keep in mind that we all have an effect on the sport we love. Tight lines...

Nice going Johnny! Keep all the legal fish you want within the limits! :D I catch and kill every fish I am allowed, and they all get eaten.

Johnny - Slit their throats if you are keeping them...the meat will be a day and night difference. This is true of all fish - bleed them for the best look and taste!

How come I never see anyone talk about the party boats.Maybe they should only run every other day or hell how about once a week. You spend a ton of money a year between the boat the slip tackle gas and everything else and you get ridiculed for taking a few fish when the taking is good. What about the days when the fishing sucks guess that doesn't count.Get real people Noone did anything wrong all legal fish and some people are still not happy. We have crazy size limits and even more crazy seasons isn't that enough.

Do not pay ANY attention to these guys Johnny, EVERYTHING you did is legal and you wasted nothing.
Congrats on an excellent catch. My son can't wait to get out and do the same. Last night he cooked himself some quail he had in the freezer, getting ready to get his LIMIT of turkey so he can eat that too and Stripers are on the list too.
Waste not want not.

He said right in his report they were legal. Leave the kid to enjoy his catch and hope we all can do so well.

Really guys??? We have someone who takes the time to write reports and contibute to the site on a regular basis and he gets slammed for keeping his legal limit !!
We want to encourage not discourage young people to take up and enjoy our sport, don't we? We want to encourage people to put reports up, don't we??
Many of us will go out and load up on Ling or Sebass and keep our legal limit. Last time I checked Ling, Seabass and Stipers were all in the fish family and one could argue that the Striper stock is in much better shape then Ling or Seabass.
Give the kid a break
Closing this post so we don't have a free for all here.
And Johnny - Keep on fishing and posting bud. I enjoy your reports, enthusiasm and glad you enjoy the outdoors and this great sport of ours. We could use a lot more young men like you.
