Went out to Spruce again yesterday for 3 hours. Within first 10 minutes all three of our rods got hit, all were bent over when setting the hook yet all hook sets were wiffs and the fish were gone. DA FUQ? Bite slowed down after that but we still got 1 LMB and 2 pike. My first pike (ever) came off right before the net since I only had a 16lb fluoro leader on (tho my other rod had a steel leader go figure) but he looked about 27-29 inches. Then my friend got another one, on 15lb braided leader, 27" approx 5 lbs. Figured the only rod with a steel leader on was the one that didn't get a pike. From now on I'm using steel or heavy braid/fluoro at this spot. Either way, another good day at Spruce!

Was going to say the same. Lighter than our river Pike, and this one has cool pattern. Nice catch!

Use 20-30lb flouro leader tied to a barrel swivel, should have no problems with breakoffs and its pretty much invisible in the water.

I si second skunk on the bigger fluoro leader. I know it sounds like a sin but sometimes I just tie right to the hook/leader with braid and only have been bit off I believe 2 times which really isn't that bad. I obviously only do this when conditions allor it such as murky or muddy water. Beautiful lookin fish up there at spruce ill be giving it a shot at some point in the yak this year.
