I'm down for a Meet and Greet. I know there have been a bunch since I've been a member on here, but due to my work schedule I just haven't been able to make one. Should be a good time there some great fishing in that section.

I like how you think!!!
Should be fun guys. Nice Pikey terrain with some cool coves and backwaters if you've never fished the area. Large enough that we won't be casting over each other. And of course, the peaceful harmony of Rt. 21, 46 and GSP gently buzzing around you lol. Jersey fishing to a T.

I'm all in for a friendly wager. Let's keep it based on the PIKE! Biggest Pike takes the dollars. Ill do you one better on sweetening the bet. 5 guys put 10 bucks in, ill match it with 50. 10 guys go in ill match it with 100. How's that for motivation? Ill be in that pool to win some money. If guys want to do a side bet for the bass, that's great. Let's go fellas, if you know NJF members or have people that would like to join the festivities, bring em to the PIKE PARTY! This should be a day of EPIC AWESOMENESS!!!! TIGHT LINEZ!!!:D

04-13-2013, 05:43 PM
Pool sounds motivating! Just wondering about the process?
Since most if any of us don't have livewells, especially big enough for the MONSTER PIKE I intend to catch, an end of day weigh in is out of the question. Plus it's easy to hold up a fish in a pic and just "say" it weighs 10 pounds, even if it doesn't look that big...........Sounds like we need a referee, lol.
I guess a pic showing the whole fish being weighed and the scale with the ability to zoom in on the image to see the weight?? Any other criteria need to be followed for your entry? Thoughts????
FASTEDDIE29
04-13-2013, 05:48 PM
When you vatch a big Pike call upon the member or fisherman closest to you. Have that random person weigh the fish, measure the fish and take a pic of you with your MONSTER. NO SHENANIGANS!!!

Second that... besides I think we will have to have 2 categories for pIke... Size and weight....
Also, this should be strictly artificial lure comp... NO CHEATING AKA... LIVE BAIT.... LOL

The trade and swap table was good at the last M & G. Maybe if you get time and the weather is good you should run one from say 7 to 8 am. People walked up and put stuff down and others walked up and picked things up.
It was all good. i tossed in a few NJF T shirts and lotsa bumper stickers also.

That's a great idea I live in elmwood park and never caught a pike or any other big fish in the river just carp and eel plus I just bought a boat an got all the paper work and everything ready and checked if everything works today and want to go on the river and try it. I was at the elmwood park marina today just looking. Maybe ill try to make it out.

Biggest fish by weight takes the dollars!!! Who's bringin the beers? T-shirts? Ill try to get some. I do have bumper stickers for everyone provided by my buddy AndyS. One more thing with the fish being weighed, lets make sure they are weighed in on a good scale, preferably a rapala digital scale or something like that.

I'll bring some coffee (Irish) for before, and some brews for after, lol. Any preference??

Going downstream from the launch, the main channel is at least 8ft deep, with some spots getting as deep as 14ft. near the bridges from what I've seen on my depth finder. We regularly bring my buddies' 14ft/16ft'ers in there. The only issue you'd have would be trying to get into the backwaters, which are usually 2-3ft deep but get as low as 6" in some spots.

YEA, I WANT IT!!! Has a hole in it but since it's aluminum should be able to fix it then I can make the meet & greet for pike on the passaic !!!! Some quick info for guys just reading this:
What- 1st Annual NJFishing Passaic River Pike-A-Thon
When- Saturday, May 4th. 8AM meet at launch-4pm finish
Where- Elmwood Park municipal boat ramp
350 River Dr., Elmwood Park, NJ (1 minute from Rt. 80, 5 minutes from Rt. 46 and GSP)
Details:
-All are welcome. Most will be fishing from kayaks, canoes or small jon boats, but there may be a few guys with bigger/gas powered boats. The more, the merrier.
-Optional $10/person pool for HEAVIEST Northern Pike. A few guys, including myself, have digital scales. I own the Rapala unit and don't think I paid more than $20 for it if you want to pick up your own. There should be enough guys around to assist in weighing/photographing your catch if need be.
-FastEddie generously offered to match the pot to a certain limit ($100). Offer the guy a handshake, man-hug or cold beer for his good deed! If he ends up winning, a vote will be taken to decide his fate. Rumor has it he doesn't swim well without his Trout-patterned Swimmies!
-If you haven't fished the area of river before, its slow moving with a very, very light current. Wind is more of an issue here since the river is fairly wider then some of the popular upstream areas. A few hundred feet before the Dundee Dam, there is a pipe that runs across the river that acts as a good "don't go any further" reminder.
-Beautiful, scenic views of Rt.'s 80, 46, 21, 20 and GSP. Urban fishing at its finest :p .
-Elmwood Park PD usually frequent the area, so I'm not sure drinking a few would be smart until we're out in the water. Flasks are another story ;) .
I think that's the basics guys. I don't fish the Elmwood Park/Dundee Lake section as often as I do other areas, but I usually pick up a few Pike with some Smallies mixed in. As expected, lots of shoreline structure, weedbeds, a few nice coves, and a few deeper areas in the main channel and near the bridges. Any more questions, post 'em up or send me a private message.
