The Watershed has been placed on the agenda for the Historic Sites Council Meeting.
Because the Blackwells Mills Dam and impoundment are within several historic vistas, we need to go before the Council and seek their approval.
We have been advised to have "friends of dam removal" at the meeting to show support or offer public comments in support of the removal.
Would you and/or several of your fishermen colleagues be interested in attending and providing comments on our behalf?
The meeting is next Friday, April 19th at 10:00 AM at the NJDEP.

I am attaching a letter from the NJDEP with details. Also, the letter states "Public comment is welcome at the meeting. If you plan to attend the meeting, please call Sara Homer the week of the meeting to confirm meeting arrangements at 609-292-0061.

Some of the greatest people I know. They have been busting their butts to get these old broken down dams removed for many years now.
They come across many walls, people who actually LIKE dams, and for one reason or another they say they have "historic value." That all may be true but River Herring remain on the endangered species list and the American Shad are in peril.
If you can not attend a meeting feel free to contact "The Shed" and let your voice be heard. We as fishermen realize the damage the dams have caused.
It's not only here but the Musconetcong river has many dams that will be coming down also. It's a NATIONAL movement to remove dams so join in for the good of generations to come.
