We didn't feel much like getting up early, being cold, and fighting the crowds, so my dad and I decided to fish the afternoon bite. We hit the first spot around 1:30, the North Branch in Far Hills. We fished for about an hour and a half with not even a strike. Lots of fish clustered by the bridge, but there were half a dozen guys throwing at them and they weren't having any of it. We beat it out of there and hit up Peapack Brook. First hole we came to was loaded with brookies. I limited out in about 10 casts, and my dad got 2. After a couple photos we cleaned our catch and headed home.
Crowds were gone, nice weather, and we caught fish. All in all a great way to start the season. Fish cakes will be made tomorrow!
