Hit Passaic from 3-7 pm yest with a friend. Fished a decent stretch with merely a hit each until right around 6 pm. Immediately after the wind and rain stopped and the sun came bursting out again, I managed to salvage the trip with 3 fish--all pike. Nothing big but nice to get the first toothy critter of the year out of the way. All three fish hit within the hour--from 6-7 pm. All were caught on a #4 Mepps spinner w/ gold blade. The pic below was the biggest of the 3.

Catch em' up!

A little drama, but sounds like a good day to me. Nice fish you got there. I gotta get in on that action, but idk where to even begin on that river.

Gratz!

Find a slack pool, oxbow or laydown anywhere from Chatham to Newark. They will be waiting ;) .

All three of mine were caught in areas where feeder/runoff streams dumped into the river. If that helps, too.

Isn't that an expensive lure to be throwing in there where there is a lot of debris and blow downs ?? Just wondering. Nice fish BTW.

I'm in agreement with NorthJersey--it's def one of the cheaper lures I throw at them. After fishing around the sticky stuff for a bit you get the hang of, well, not getting hung up. Plus, with braid as your main line you can yank a lure out of most snags. I maybe lose one of those spinners once every three trips. The benefit of the lure is well worth the risk. The one in the pic is beat to HELL. Who knows how many pike I've caught on it since last summer. The thru-wire is bent beyond straightening, the paint on the body beads is all but gone--yet she still spins and produces!

Looking forward to comparing notes with some of you this wknd...
