First day of spring huh, didn't feel like it, lol. Got out for a couple hours today. Knew the river was up so I left the boat home and tried some shore spots. First spot yielded a nice 34" on a bait fish, Nice!!! After a while I decide to move on.

First cast at my next spot was a snag that cost me the last of my bait. Decided to throw on a spinner see what happened. Sure enough I hooked up with another decent pike in the 30" range. Followed it right up to point where his back was out of the water and nailed it, then decided to bloody me up!!

Best outing I've had in a couple tries so, yeah, I'm def happy its spring lol........

Nice healthy looking fish. That section of water looks no bigger than the Millstone river by me that is also stocked with Pike.

Nice Fishes!:p Hearty & Healthy...Thanks for the Spinner report as well. I thought the water temp may be a bit to cold.....did you slow-roll that bad boy?

Hope to catch up with you out there some day soon bro..

Thanks everyone. The first fish actually nicked my thumb a bit, not that bad. The second got me a little better. I wasn't even going to try the last spot but said screw it and left my backpack in the car. When I caught the second fish I didn't want to prolong his time out of the water and the lure was right in the corner of his mouth so I went for it. Soon as I popped the hook he clamped down as I was pulling away. Gotta say, those are some sharp teeth cause I didn't even feel it when it happened (may have been adrenaline). Couple casts later I look down and see that I'm smearing blood all over my cork handle, lol........

As far as the spinner, I kinda surprised myself!! I'd say moderate speed.Trying to keep it going just fast enough to keep from from snagging up on the bottom.

Went back out for a bit yesterday. No bait but had a decent size fish follow in a spinnerbait........
