Is the area closed to fishing any days?
Was thinking of hiking the shore line on the 24th

GO FOR IT. Round Valley is open.
If the big fish are like the ones they put in in the fall they have built up body fat and may not feed till 2 to 3 weeks after being stocked. You can still fish, Mark B. has been doing well in the back.

I didn't see any of those big ones,.......& got skunked back there, yesterday.
Saw a lone figure (with a fishing pole?) way off in the northeastern shoreline distance.

You're good, I helped out with the stocking a few years back and went straight out fishing right after we were done (not surprisingly we didn't catch any of the trophies that day).
2 years ago I caught one of the trophies only a week after the stocking so you can get lucky. If you wear polarized sunglasses there's a good chance you'll see one of the stocked golden trout cruise by. ;)
Super

The 6,000 fish the state stocks can be caught right away, particularly the brown trout. They're under 15", so they can't be kept.

Last year, on Easter Sunday, I landed one of RVTA's big bows.
Had several follows of my Yo-Zuri, but no strikes.
So switched, & caught it on a Silver #2 Mepps Spinner.

I got mine on a 1/16 oz brown/copper blade Roostertail.

@ the Pequest Open House, yesterday, RVTA said they stocked 100 big bows (including 10 goldens) on Sat.
First bow was caught the next day, Sun., @ the boat ramp.

Stocking went well yesterday despite the wind... I have a video on the home page if anyone is interested... www.fishrvta.com
The bow that was caught Sunday was actually a left over from last year.. Pic on the home page as well...

This afternoon, caught a chunky 16" brown & a very skinny 18" rainbow which came with a small Rapala floater attached to its jaw. No doubt, a contributing factor to its thinness.
Had another trout on & another hit.
No sign of the big 'bows.

They're probably down deep getting acclimated. Hopefully they'll be cruising the shoreline this weekend (for me anyways!).

I, too, will be wading the shoreline, this weekend.
Easter Sunday 2012 caught this 'bow, there.
Easter Sunday is the morning I'm targetting too. Can't wait, decent weather and a good chance to get the heart racing seeing one of those giants cruise by.
