fly tying kits?

now that i really got into fly fishing i really want to try and tie my own lures. i see there are starter kits for this. anyone ever get one of these?

I bought the trout kit from cabellas. It has a small assortment of lower end materials, tools and vise. This kit also came with a DVD. It's a good way of finding out if you will enjoy tying which I did, which will lead to more and higher quality material and tools. As far as learning more patterns you tube is loaded with really good videos that have step by step instructions. Hope that helps you out.

What kind of fly fishing will you be doing? What kind of flies do you want to tie?

Orvis has a good quality kit and has all the tools and a good array of materials. I find most starter kits are a bit inferior but I learned on one and they are better now than they were 30 years ago.

The orvis ones looks pretty good...By the time you go out and buy everything individually, you will spend this amount if not more. For example, a good Regal Vise may cost around 200.00 or more, a good neck may be $20-$70

mostly stockies and panfish. actually ended up getting a cheap kit t gander to see if i like it and it has stuff for wolly buggers a scud san juan worm, brassie, pheasant tail, poly caddis.
