Been hitting a few spots up and down the river with my buddies lately and been doing pretty well everywhere. Landed a total of 11 Pike myself on Sunday with at least 5 more spitting the hook. Buddy landed 3 fish, including his new PB 34 1/2" fish . Got out again yesterday and we nabbed 3 more good fish in an hour of fishing. The fish are the fattest they will be all year right now and all putting up great fights. Notables were a 35", a 34 1/2", two 33" fish, and multiple 31"/32" fish. 30"+ fish are outnumbering the >30" fish  . A few of the bigger ones...

Plugs or bait?
Both. Been bait n' waitin' with large shiners and casting rapalas and similar minnow plugs at the same time to stay warm lol. Been about 70/30 on the bait side, but the lures landed the two biggest.

Way to go Skunk !!!! A few real nice fish there for early March. With working 16 hour days, 6 days a week for the past month, with another 6 weeks to go, It doesn't look good for me to get out until mid April.
Keep up the catching with the posts and pictures, it will help me get through the next few weeks.
Congrats !!!!

They have been hitting consistently all winter for me Dan, so as long as the river isnt too high, it should be a good spring. Have been messing around above the dams/falls in the kayak and have had some banner days for only 2 months into 2013. Hopefully you find some time to sneak out there with daylight savings time approaching.

Great fish.
My buddy was wading in waist deep water when the 34" hit his lure no more than 5ft. from his feet...on light tackle lol. Was pretty fun to watch from the shoreline.

Those are beasts. Well done.
I have all my lures just waiting for the weather and river to cooperate.
I printed out the first pike pic and showed people at work. I work in Fairfield about 500' away from the river and they cannot believe such fish can exist in there.

When our building had 14" of water in it after Irene, I should have been looking for pike in the lunchroom:p
Speaking of lunch, many lunch breaks have been taken throwing a spinner around and seeing what will grab it. So far its been bluegill, pumpkinseed, black crappie, large & smallmouth bass, redbreast sunfish, chain pickerel, pike, and yellow & white perch. Quite a potpourri of species.

Rob that's an awesome job on those fish. The ones I have caught have been fatter as well. I love pike fishing in march. Hopefully this weekend will be good as well. Thanks a lot for showing me how to post pics on here. Keep up the god work on the river bro.
