Hi all. Been a while since I have posted. I would like to take my 5 yr old daughter out for perch. She loves catching sunnies, but always asks if we can keep them to eat. Figured perch are a little bigger to eat and trout season would be crowded for her.

I am in Lincoln Park. I have only caught them in upstate NY So any local info would be great. No spots, just bodies of water.

Thanks in advance.

they are all over. have you fished your LP community lake? i forget the name, the one next to pio costa, they are in there. also in the reservoirs going up rt 23. lots in lake hopatcong too.

on the other hand, there's nothing wrong with bluegills in the frypan... 8" is a good eating size

All I have caught in the Community Lake is sunfish. Maybe because it was in August. I will try earlier this year. Just not sure if I want to eat anything from there.

Hello fellow Birdman...I live right across 23 in wayne so I like to fish for perch in: Packanack lake (This is a private lake though but has BIG perch.), Clinton Reservoir (but need to buy a Newark watershed pass).
So for a legal place thats semi-close would be Wawayanda Lake, which is not too far. Tons of shoreline access for you and your daughter, and good structure to fish from shoreline.
Also close to LP is Green Turtle pond which has perch and also rainbow trout that can be caught from shore. This place rarely gets crowded too. Good shoreline access. You can hit both places in 1 day if ya want.
Goodluck.

Birdman Thanks. No perch in Packanack now though. I was thinking Green Turtle or Shepards Lake.

Anyone fish Lincoln Park yet? Might try later this week.
