Had some time today and was not happy couldn't make the Meet and Greet at Hopatcong due to indoor soccer so decided to get out for a while and headed to the N/B to trout fish. Wasn't a very good forecast by the weatherman, was cold, cloudy, and kinda windy as well. But got there at 12:30 and fished a few spots with no love. Ran into another angler who said he was hooked up on a nice fish but lost it so gave me a little more desire to stay a while longer. Made the move to another spot and second cast had a hit but missed it. Few more casts i hooked up with a nice bow about 14 inches i guess, few more missed hits and hooked up again with a nice thick rainbow. Fish was going pretty hard and didn't want to loose it so I started to make my way back to shore and stepped off a piece of shale and took the PLUNGE!!!!! Was completely submerged except for my head and right arm with the rod and the fish still on!!! Somehow made it back to my feet and landed that Baby!!!!! Still soaking wet tried to get a few pics but they didn't come out so good but second fish was about 17/18 inches and had a hookjaw! Both fished were released unharmed and swam away strong.
Like a trooper i stayed and fished about another half hour but no more action
because I probable scared every fish for a 1/4 mile when I went for a swim
so headed home laughing and smiling the whole way home and managed Not to ruin my cell phone somehow too!!!!!!

Nice fish! Sounds like a great day, lol. I here ya about the phone, mine went swimming twice last year. First time it worked again, second time, not so much, lol.

That's why this year, I got a waterproof pfd for my phone. Keeps it dry and floating for when the "inevitable" happens.........

Local water still giving up fish, AND THE BEAT GOES ON. Good thing you didn't break anything when you went down. Wilson gave me an old ski pole a few years ago and I never looked back, I feel naked if I dont have it with me now, saved me a BUNCH of times.

Yea , pulled my korkers out when I got home so I don't BUST MY AZZ again.
My waders are redballs that i got when I was still in high school, I'm forty nine now so they are WELL BROKEN IN!!! LOL I tried a few different things, trout magnets, a small floating rapala which didn't work too good ,stayed too high in the water and had to work it too fast to get it down. The water was very dirty I guess from the rain and visibilty was really poor, I can usually spot them while walking along the banks but not today. Believe it or not I ended up catching them both on pink powerbait about the size of a marble!!! HAHAHAHA Figured due to the water clarity needed something bright and some scent as well and that was the ticket. I only used what I had in my vest cause didn't stop for bait and the powerbait was a jar that was several years old. Not a big powerbait guy, was in my vest as a backup!
