Award from the mayor

During sandy my sons boyscout troop answered the call from the town to fill sandbags. Off they went in the middle of the maelstrom to help the community. They were rewarded last night with a citation from the mayor. They both made me very proud!

Three cheers for all the scouts and especially to their scoutmaster. I wish every parent gave their kids some kind of obligation.

I was a Boy Scout myself as a child living in Newark. My first time away from home I went to Camp Mohican Blairstown, N.J. There I fell in love with the outdoors, nature and fishing. It has consumed me my whole life. When the other kids were in a hurry to get back home after only one week, I cried to stay and my father had to pay for another week. LOL Been back there several times. Once with my son to hike.
