Probably questions for Kevin, but others might comment as well. I am thinking about buying one of these rods, but it is tough for me to get to point pleasant during the week to look at them.

What line class are they? Around 20-50?

I would pair the rod up with either an Avet SX or a Penn Squall 25N. Both reels are gutsy enough for my purposes, but which would balance out the rod better? The Penn is pretty bulky.

Thanks.

Best thing to do is bring both reels down andmatch them up. 20 -50 lb rating is overkill for blacks. Kevin will give you some good advice and steer you in the right direction.

I have an Avet S/X on mine. Works just fine. I did go from 30 to 50# power pro.

I actually have different models. The one I like I call an MHH. That is Med HVY Heavy versus an MHL Med Hvy light. The heavier unit is rated 25-50 lb
the lighter 20-40 lb. Both are eglass. Fish Poison, all black start at $149, add $30 for colors.
All prices include your name and Blackfish decal. You can call 732 892 8822 or 732 779 4097. The reels you mentioned are good. These rods are eglass, built to do the job.
