2012 Hackettstown Hatchery Stocking Report is posted (link below)

Interesting reading... note the pure strain muskies put in Little Swartswood - only tigers previous to now...

Thanks again to NJ Fish/Game and all the volunteers & clubs who assist in this excellent program.

I thought they raised the fish in the aquarium, in conjunction with muskies inc. to be able to stock them at a larger size?
Maybe I'm wrong.

Also, tigers in the millstone huh............

I was at Cabelas after x-mas....they need to be stocked? Are you kidding me? There are more PB fish in those tanks for all members of this site combined. I saw whole schools of bait fish swimming unmolested as everyone was fat and happy.

cabelas grows the fish out for NJ and PA for free (displaying them while they do), and then they are released back in NJ and PA as bigger fish.

it means bigger fish for you, at lower cost; as if the hatchery got a free expansion in tanks and a donation of food every year. it is a good thing.

Anyone out there involved in the project and know the details on the fish coming back to Jersey (i.e. where stocked, size, quantity, timing)?

I believe this is the first year that NJ F&G sent fish to Cabelas

Curious if anyone has seen positive results from some of these stockings. Deal Lake, anyone heard of northern pike being caught there? I have caught some very large pickerel, but never heard of anyone catching a pike. Manasquan Reservoir hybrid stripers, only heard of one or two being caught, anyone hear of steady hybrid fishing? Glad to see Franklin Lake got a few bass. Used to be lots of tiny ones under 11" there that you could catch on spinners, maybe it will become a more balanced fishery.

Fished Manasquan by boat last yr...HUGE schools of hybrid stripers in the 4-6lb. range....As far as i'm concerned they don't need to be stocked there but i guess if they don't reproduce, stocking is nessesary to keep the population up.....I used to fish there alot more when i lived in Old Bridge over ten yrs ago....Populations of hybrids were gr8 then too, but average fish were in the 1-3lb range...
This is the only lake that i've fished that has schools of wipers that come close to comparing them to bluefish blitzes...absolutely incredible....But like anywhere else, timing is EVERYTHING...

The hybrid population there puts spruce run to shame...I just fish spruce alot more because its ALOT closer to me...

I'm always amazed at the # of fish that go into Monksville compared to the number caught.

I didn't see any fish in this report being stocked at Round Valley. Does anybody know why?
