As cold as its been the only game in town other then the ice is the pequest, got there around 7:30 and it was game on.Picked up some real nice fish and also getting my PB brownie coming in at 22" that came home.Worked the section downstream from the hatchery away from the crowds and had the stream to myself. And yes it was cold as balls, frozen guides, line frozen to the spool and had my reel freeze up a couple times too.

It looks like a tough grip but I have fished with Shucker many a time and every fish swims off just fine.
Great report from the chilly waters !!

What's the creel limit on trout this time of year?
I thought it was c/r only.

I'm sworn to secrecy but dark colors worked well.

Thanks Andy. It's been a good 5 years since I have played with NJ trout. My friend at work is getting me back into it this year and with tommorows temps I may give the Ramapo or the Pequanock a shot since it is local to me.
I plan on trying some of my old spinners and might even drown a worm.
Thanks on the regs. I'm a catch and release guy bit every now and then my neighbor gets the ones that refuse to swim away.

With yesterday being such a nice day I took a ride up and fished the Ramapo county park reservation area for about 2 hours from 11 am till 1 ish, water was actually high and a bit brown.
I did manage a small rainbow on a black and yellow panther martin reeled so slow it was almost hanging up on bottom.
Lots of suckers noseing around in the mud.
I was happy with a catch and a successful release and had fun. That's what it is all about!
Andy thanks for the pm, I am going to give your suggestion a try.
