Met Outofline around 9am and we headed out to the Big D in the Easton- P-burg area. Water looked great, high and clear. We threw the tackle box for a good two hours, nothing. I think my 2nd or 3rd time to the Big D this winter and found no love.
We headed over to MC and fished off the rocks to the left of the tower. Some guy was soaking power cheese off the handicap dock and wasn't getting anything. Outofline and I threw and threw and threw, gave it the old college try, nothing.
Nice day out and did see the snow geese on MC, pretty amazing. At one point it looked like something was pushing herring, then 10 thousand sea gulls came in joining the 100 thousand snow geese, place was pretty crazy.

Wow that's a lot of birds, are they healthy for the reservoir?

i was about 2 miles away from MCR hunting canadas yesterday and we watched the snows come off of the reservoir for a good 45 minutes, so many it just looks like wispy clouds coming off of the water. they filled the sky to the horizon in every direction.

Even if they're not, is there really much we/you can do about it?

Yes actually, there is. Open it to hunting. There is a reason that hundreds of thousands of snow geese roost on Merrill Creek (no waterfowl hunting) every year and why 0 roost on Round Valley Reservoir (waterfowl hunting), just 6 miles away and clearly visible from the air.

I agree, that would reduce the numbers but i doubt they would open it to hunting...I mean c'mon you cant even fish it overnight...

I friend of mine hunts the canadian geese at RV and does well every year:o
He donates the meat which i'm not sure i understand but hey more power to him... I wish more guys would target them and bring down their ever growing numbers..just my 2 cents
