Got the skunk....fished from 8-1, no hits, no fish. National weather service forecast 50 degrees and sunny, but wen I left @1 it was 39 and cloudy. Started by old bar near 31/46 intersection. walked down to pool by gazebo then upstream ....nothing. went to belvidere, fished lowest falls towards big d- nothing. tried by usgs streamflow shack area-nothing.... Tried to use a trout magnet for first time - with the jighead and bobber it comes with, I never got comfortable with it. Saw about a dozen cars in the hatchery pull-off lot, maybe they were catching something?

I only tried the hatchery once about 5 years ago, got 1 nice bow fly-fishing on a wooly bugger - maybe I should have just gone there instead. I agree Andy, I used to go there every week during spring stocking. Never landed a big fish, though I had a few on. Never had a day when I greatly exceeded my limit, though almost never got skunked. I'm guessing trout holdover on the entire river down to the big d correct?

Tons of trout in that river right now. Catch all year long in the pequest.
