Visiting my mother-in-law in West Virginia for Thanksgiving and landed this fatty on a Hughes River Shaker on The Yough in PA. We missed three other fish and saw four more. Things were a-movin'.

Nice one man. I'm dying to catch one. I'm a bass fisherman but wanna try going for musky. Do you think it would be worth my time to try this year?

Thanks guys! Skunk, I didn't get a measure, that's a bad habit I seem to have. We guestimated at 43 inches and close to 25 pounds. I'm always just happy to have a picture and see the fish swim away real strong, which this one did. And Andrew, it's never to late to try and get one. They are undoubtedly feeding this time of year. I would suggest investing in the proper net and release tools if yer gonna target them. Feel free to PM me.

I'm good Eddie. I haven't heard anything about Hopat. I haven't fished the Big Lake for muskies since late October, but we were movin' fish on the smaller lakes before I left for WV. I hate to say it, but I have a couple busy weekends coming up and this may have been my last musky trip for 2012 if we get ICE. I didn't know they lowered the lake. I think we're about to get hit with a winter though. I have the tip-ups ready and I have a hunch I'll be chasing flags by Christmas.

Thanks Andy, although this was another PA fish. The spot we fished on the The Yough is only about 45 minutes from my mother-in-law's in Morgantown WV.

Busy weekends, I know all about them. I think I went about a month without fishing since Sandy. Just started fishing again this past week but still no time to get out for a full day of hardcore fishing. Ill be on the ice to make up for lost fall fishing. See you out there. FLAG!!!

Thanks man. My go-to for coldwater is a glide bait. I use a lot of custom stuff, but the Drifter Hellhound is pretty much a staple and won't break the bank. You work them with a slow, subtle, subsurface walk-the-dog action. My three biggest muskies have all come on glide baits in water temps from between 36 and 45 degrees. I threw that Hughes River Shaker for 9 hours yesterday and had three muskies swing at it, but two missed. One thing though, you might be able to skimp on the musky gear for some tactics, but not this. These baits weigh a minimum of 3 ounces and can easily top 8 ounces. Stout casting gear with 80-pound braid and a single-strand leader is a must.

Mark thats a beauty, congrats man U def put your time in.....Im jealous like hell lol.........LH isnt low yet, was out on Turkey day for 2 hrs and it was maybe foot and a half down, not even noticable, but they did pull all the buoys since the weekend so Ice is a coming............flaaaaaaaag........ It was slow, past 2 weeks things got quiet out there, I only managed 2 perch and a pickeral even tho I marked a ton of fish.

I did see a bucketeer jig a fat mid 30's musky off chestnut and gaf the fish that morning, I almost got into my first boat fight over it, so they are still active.........
