Same as last week but this time with Shucker. I was off on Friday so I got an early start on the road and was fishing by 9am. I fished the lower section by the club in Weikert for a few hours and then went to the top by Coburn for a few hours, had plenty of fish at both spots. Met Shucker for dinner in Millheim at the Elk Creek Café for some awesome steak and beers.
Saturday I ran Shucker through the Penns Creek gauntlet. Our guides were freezing up for a bit when we started fishing in the morning. We had a steady pick of feisty 15” brown trout with only a few dry spells.
Steak and beers at the club Saturday night, of course.
Sunday Shucker and I hit the 2 mile no kill section called Cherry Run. We scratched and clawed but managed a pretty steady pick of some nice fish. Seems like the fast water fished better for us, slow water was a bust.
Pretty cool limestone river in the fact as soon as the water started to get deep it turned a jade green.
Lotsa bear hunters running around in the woods but we didn't hear any shots fired.
Had a good time but after 2 weeks in a row it’s time to give that place a rest.
