sounds like he was whats known as a "public adjuster". Their take to handle a claim is usually 10%. I am in the insurance business and must say it is usually worth hiring a "PA" as he will recover more for you than you would recover on your own (which means they usually pay for themselves). 25% is way out of line, however, for those of you who have large claims a "PA" will do all the work for you and count every nut and bolt that you are entittled to. The insurance company uses professional adjusters, which is why you have the right to hire your own adjuster to go head to head with the insurance company.

It's the deception that is the problem. This particular one was trying to prey on the vulnerable. no need to be tricked into paying 25% b4 the process even starts! He walked past my younger brother at my house and right up to an elderly neighbor.

25% is highway robbery!

as I said 10% is the norm. no excuse for what he did. there are bad apples in every industry who usually ruin it for the guys on the up and up.

I do recomend a PA for big or problem losses or if you just don't want to do the leg work of handling a claim.

I know a few very good ones, if anyone has questions or needs a REPUTABLE public adjuster please let me know.

the more they collect for you, the more they get paid, so they try to get as much as possible out of the insurance company.

PA's are a FANTASTIC service. But yeah, at 10%, not 25%.
