Took a ride over to South Boundbrook falls at lunch today to see if the water was high from the rain. Took a couple casts with a 7 inch rapala on the end of my line. On the 5th cast or so I got slammed, then the fish jumps in the distance. I see it jump and say, WOW, thats a huge pickerel. HAHAHAHAHAHA, not so, get the fish closer to the wall, its a TIGER MUSKY!!! Anyway I then jumped off the wall and into the water to safely land this toothy beauty of a specimen. The little guy measured 32 inches and swam away happily. Now thats an AWESOME lunch break fellas. I love lunch time and I love river fishing. You never know what your gona get fishing huge river systems. TIGHT LINES!!! :D

Closest to there is, HMMMMMM, I gotta think about that. I think the closest would be Budd Lake. The Tiger Musky stocking program has been terminated in Nj for a couple years already so I really dont have a clue where this Tiger came from. The state really just doesnt tell you everything that us anglers would really like to know. CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dam Eddie hell of a catch a the ladder. Whenever I go there I end up donating $50 worth of lures and leave with nothing. Any Muskie out of the river is an awesome catch!!

The canal which runs parallel to the river about 50ft away has been stocked with tigers for years. Also the last time I was on the millstone a few weeks ago I was talking to a guy who told me that they recently put a few 30in tigers above and below the falls in manville. Perhaps one of these guys made it down the ladder? Either way, nice fish Eddie! Im planning an early sunday RR trip for esox and walleye so you got me pumped now!!

Thats great news that they stocked them in there. I hope they do well and grow to be monsters. Im pretty sure I have my facts straight but didnt the state terminate the Tiger stocking program a few years ago? That is why all the lakes big or small are getting pure strain Musky these days. Thanx fellas. Go get em. TIGHT LINES!!!

Eddie, they did terminate for a bit and at one point they were dumping only true strains into the Furnace (which btw are now fat and 40 inches as evidenced by our trip on Saturday), but they started raising tigers again about 3 or 4 years ago. I checked the stocking numbers awhile back and was surprised to see that the state has been stocking both tigers and true strains for the last 3 or 4 years. I don't believe they've put tigers in Budd in a long time, but the canal has been getting a healthy dose. They also heavily stocked Carnegie with bigger fish (12-inch) for awhile, and I think a lot of these fish eventually made their way into the Millstone and the Raritan thanks to Irene.

Maybe they started this back up more recently. I may have been mixed up. In any event, this may have been where the "bonus tigers" came from that they dumped in the river and/or canal.

AWESOME!!! Catch btw bro. I've been trying to score a "lunchtime musky" for a bit and you beat me to it. Very cool.

Someone actually posted on here maybe a month ago that they saw the hatchery truck at the canal stocking 3yr old tigers. Then I saw that guy on the Millstone who told me the same story about the river. I actually had a follow from a fish about the size of the one Eddie caught in the canal a few wks ago, but he took off when he saw the boat. I think F&G is def doing some stocking that isnt advertised.

No complaints here :) . Would love to see them stock the Passaic with Tigers again...or maybe they have been without us knowing.

Exactly, I'm a fan of the undercover stocking lol. River muskys in NJ is right up my alley.

I caught some tiger muskies years ago in Spruce Run Reservoir. They stocked plenty there in the eighties. My thought is it got out thru the dam and made its way down the river. I temporarily had the world record caught trolling in Spruce Run on six pound line. While waiting for clarification another fisherman caught one in Wisconsin 23 lbs. heavier. Good for him, bummer for me. But it was exciting anyway.
