is what i feel like , that keeps getting robbed..

Past few days i been cat fishing in the passaic, while throwing my lures here and there into a lil inlet where i have pulled a few 1-2 lb lm and big bluegills..

Two poles out on bottom, hook above the weight, peice of sabrett hot dog on the hooks..Lines are tight, poles leaned up against the parking rail, im sitting back in my chair...

Im watching both pole tips, within minutes u always get hits, pole tip is dancin, bending over, i grab the pole, wait till i feel one on, set the hook, nothing, got my hotdog and everything..if i dont set the hook they get the hotdog anyway, or one in a few times they have takin it into the gut already, and i just cut the line..

i even saw the urban kayaker out tuesday i beleive it was :D

anywho the few channel catfish i have caught are healthy lil suckers, not longer than 16 inches but girthy..Caught pretty long/thick eel and a bunch of tiny ones as well..sorry i dont take pics, im out there just killing time having a good time, taking pics is the last thing on my mind...

But my question is whats with all the hotdog stealing, sheeesh , they are some slick/smart fish ...

i have the same problem using chicken liver. usually its sunnies; i snag them during the hookset but it can also be eels, white perch, bullhead, wild shinners, ect... basically everything but carp, bass, pickerel, or pike will eat hotdog/liver. try live sunnies around 2-3", you will catch strictly channels, and bigger ones at that.

Try using Arma Mesh. It's a heavy duty mesh that's great for holding soft baits like hotdogs, chicken livers, tuna etc...

Here is a video on how to use it. For cats I use the bigger diameter and hair rig it like the guy on the video using a big octopus or circle hook. You can also put the mesh bag straight on the hook.

Old women's stockings or pantyhose cut into appropriate sized pieces works too.

I am a kayaker who was fishing in a VERY urban Passaic River area on tuesday lol. Blue kayak with a white bottom and milk crate on the back? I had two buddies meet me out there as well, could have been one of them as well.

You guys can keep chasing the old women. I'll stick with jungle juice and fishnets ;)

I use a sliding egg sinker with the smallest split shot I have to keep it 2' from my hook so they don't feel any resistance. I hold the rod with the bail open and my finger on the line. as soon as I feel a tap I let go of my finger and watch the line. sunnies etc.. will just tap it and it won't move, cats will take it and start swimming away (you'll see your line move) flip the bail, wait for the line to go taut and set the hook. hope this helps.
