So yesterday was a very special day for me. It was the first time I launched a boat in the passaic river, and the first time I caught a pike on a chartreuse spinner bait. We launched my buddies 8 foot pelican bass raider boat with a 36 lb thrust trolling motor into a spot that we have never fished before or have heard anyone else trying. It was very surprising that this section of the river was about 8 feet in the middle. There was a lot of logs and nice weed lines on the side so we figured we would give it a shot. We fished from 7-8 not knowing what to expect. The first half hour we did not get a bite. But sure enough once we got to a bridge, I threw my spinnerbait at the middle pillar wall and within seconds I had a pike on. It was average size but gave up a nice little fight. Then my buddy hammered a nice smallie on a 10 inch senko LOL (he figured a pike might hit the big senko). After that he got two more smallies and I hooked a smallie as well. It was definitely worth heading out for the little time we had and it felt good to fish a spot that we actually found on our own. Can't wait to do it again.

somethin about those center supports, find em hiding there everytime. you can jig a spoon around one from a bridge one side to the other and ususually get an attack from under the bridge. play him over to the side of the bridge and land him.

Looking to fish the Passaic for along time . I work in Moonachie and can fish after work. Can anyone locate a decent boat ramp for a bass boat? I know water depth is alittle iffy but I'm not a kayak guy...at least not yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Garfield orElmwood Park areas ? Thanks
