Im looking for 2 sets of planers, prob gonna get the offshore tackle ones w the tattle flag kits, they look really nice. Im tryin to decide between electric or manual downriggers, gonna get a set for my boat. I wanna get back into some deep water fishing and mix it up

I don't do a lot of planner boards but I do have a church board and a off shore and I like the off shore one better if u have the money go for electric I have manual riggers and I fish as deep of 60ft and it's not horrible bringing up and down but I also stack on the riggers. I have used a few different releases and I now use chamberlain releases from new Hampshire the best I ever used I have had 9inch stockies pull it and their is no miss fires I love the release and you can load the pole greatly with them

I would go Big Jon Otter Boats for your planners. http://www.fortune3.com/BigJonSports2011/product.cgi?group=671&product=672

They are a little pricy but worth it! I picked up a pair this spring and ran them up on Lake Ontario and Lake Hopatcong. We fished some rough stuff on Lake O one day and they were perfect. Some other boats had problems with their regular planner boards in the waves, they kept diving.

I would also go electric with the riggers. I just switched for manual Cannons to electric Big Jons, huge difference.

Good luck!
