Has anyone fished there. What's there to catch, any crappies? I've seen some carp and tried to catch some with some corn but they would not take it. Also, is it legal to throw corn into the water? If I catch a turtle as by-catch how should I go upon releasing it(Cutting the line, removing hook and getting bit, etc)
Thanks

I fish there a lot. I do the carp thing whenever I get the chance, some big boys (15-20 lb) in there. I've got a number of small LMB. I like taking the kids there for the sunny action. Chumming with corn is ok, never had anyone say anything.

Go for it. If you catch LMB please release, the bucket brigade keep everything they catch.

Here's an article that explains how to unhook a turtle by coaxing it to bite a stick and then pulling the hook out with pliers while he has his mouth open:

Sometimes it's best to just cut the string if attempting to remove the hook will do more damge than good.

I have never seen anyone with a bucket at Nomahegan!(besides kids with turtles and frogs) If I saw someone taking LMB I would raise hell. I am a big C&R person on freshwater but I do understand that people like to eat. IMO the taking of fish from man made lakes that aren't stocked by the state should be C&R only!
Sidenote!!! there was a fish kill at nomahegan! by the parking lot gazebo bridge I counted 15 dead fish I couldn't identify. 3-6inches and silver I believe. I did not have a camera or phone at the time.

Saw the same thing couldn't identify either. Bucket brigade at Lenape Park 6/3 had five bass in his cooler largest around 5-6 lb female loaded w/ eggs. Season didn't open until 6/15 prior to that catch and release. Called F&G hotline.
