Decided to go fishing yesterday after work and I was quite happy I did. I was thinking about staying home because of the high temps but it didn't affect the fishing one bit. I caught 16 pike and one pickerel in about two hours between 4:30 and 6:30. I caught 9 pike in a row in the same hole without moving my feet other than to take the fish off my line. I thought to myself how and why are there that many pike in one hole and how they are being able to feed being that stacked up in one area. I feel as if there is too many large fish in one area for them not to take a serious toll on all of the other species of fish in the area. Does anyone else feel that this many fish in one area can be unhealthy for the overall health of the river on a whole? Unless the pike are feeding like bluefish going after schools of bunker, I really have no idea why there would be so many pike in one area.

Good job.

Maybe all of the pike are attracted to a cold water source nearby?

Thanks, thats a possibility I guess but I'm still wondering how they could all still be able to feed while being that stacked up together in one area. Also I don't believe there is any creeks or runoffs that close to where I caught a majority of the fish. Only shade from trees which could cool down the water a little I guess.

Nice going, I had about 10 yesterday at about the same time. It's pretty easy now with the very low water conditions. Just find the deeper pools and you will find the pike. Once the river gets higher, the pike will spread out and the fishing will get much harder. Enjoy the low water conditions and catch them up !!

Thanks Dan, I thought the water level might have something to do with it. Keep catching those monsters you have been catching, you're an animal with those big a$$ pike.

Is there a reason why your pictures (at least on my monitor) are so blue?
I love fishing in low water for anything but Trout:D

I'm not sure exactly why they are so blue. It could be because I take the pictures by myself and the sky is always in the background in order to get me and the fish in the pic.

Are you using a cell ph. or a real camera?
I tried to correct the color on one of the pictures.
They really are off in the color department:confused:

Nice job man! Title is too funny haha. I also found the pike to be stacked up the last time I was out at an undisclosed location.

Yeah, I was using my cell phone it usually does take good pictures it could be because my hands were all muddy and might have got some dirt on the camera lens or something. The picture you fixed looks better in color though. Thanks man!!
