Headed to Spruce Run for another evening and landed 3 hybrids and 1 cat fish. Yuck, I hate cat fish.
All were caught on live herring, in 20 feet of water, while suspended 10 feet under a slip float.
The first two were smaller, 12-14". The one pictured was the larger of the lot.

Shore fishing or Boat? I have wanted to get there at night to get in on the night bite so will be there sometime this summer.
How full is the lake...full pool or decreasing with the temps?

I usually double anchor over a drop-off.

I am a boat kinda guy.
I was out again tonight, but I struck out. My set up was wrong because the current in that part of the lake shifted from what it was doing last night, and was flowing in a different direction. My baits were too shallow, but time did not allow for me to make a move. If I had known I was not going to hook up, I would have made the move.
Yes, the lake is at full pool.

Spruce run is full, thats amazing for this time of year. Try trolling herring or bombers and rapalas.

Darn...I have had my best days there in the fall when the lake is WAY, WAY down.
We have a long hot summer ahead to concentrate the fish for fall

If I fish there during the day (which is rare) then I do troll live herring. I just seem to prefer the evening thing.
