Hit the river with Gatto1227 from 5:30am-9:30. The action started off a little slow with only one small LMB, until we got to the stretch that usually produces pike for us and well, it produced pike lol. I got the first bite on a 1oz chartreuse spinnerbait with a large gold colorado blade. It was a good prob 25-30in pike, but unfortunately it bent my spinnerbait and freed itself. Gatto got the next bite on a Mepps giant killer, a solid 25" pike that decided to free itself as he was pulling it out of the water. Normally we would be upset after losing 2 nice fish in a row, but Gatto proceeded to hook another 25" pike on the very next cast about 50ft from where he lost the last one. A few minutes later I hooked a small 20incher that fought hard and put my spinnerbait out of its misery. I switched to my drifter believer and hit a chunky LMB on it. A few minutes later, Gatto got a bigger bass on the giant killer that was prob about 3lb or so. On the way back, we fished our pike spots again and had a big 40" pike swing and miss at both of our lures twice. We threw a bunch of casts at him, but he just wouldnt commit to any lures. It sure got the blood pumping though lol. Had to call it quits after this, but it was a fun morning at one of my favorite places to fish. Also check out the last pic of a small pike I caught last week and try to guess what he ate lol. I'm thinking maybe a small duckling or a big frog.

cool. looks like a frog to me, duckling would have been bigger if it were on the water where the pike could get it

I've never seen a pickerel anywhere in the river yet. I'm pretty sure these are normal pike, but we have caught some interesting looking esox out of this river that make you think.

I have caught a few pickerel in the last couple of years, but not too many.
I tried this morning for a couple of hours and landed 2 small pike and 2 good LMB. The spot I went to this morning that was GREAT a couple of weeks ago....was dry, no water and no weeds.
Now it's time to hit the deep water, slow areas that I did well at last summer.

Nice feesh, nice report. Glad to see the Pike are still active given the heat we've had!
